The official launch of 5G in a few cities will be made today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The launch took place in Delhi during the India Mobile Congress. According to Airtel, the company will begin rolling out 5G today in eight cities. Jio wants to roll out 5G to all of the country by 2023, starting with a few key towns.

Remember that 13 cities will be the first to receive 5G service in the first phase. However, as carriers like Airtel have remarked, it would take until 2024 before there is complete 5G coverage. Although Vodafone-Idea has not yet provided a rollout date for its 5G plans, information should be available soon.

Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, spoke on stage at the event about the advantages of 5G in India and how the service will support the nation's technological development. Modi also discussed the need for inexpensive technology and a widespread network as important foundations of the Digital India campaign.
